Manchester City’s Rolls Royce, Josko Gvardiol, appears set to be rewarded with a contract extension. The Croatian international has become one of City’s most important players since arriving at the club from RB Leipzig. Now a new report indicates that Gvardiol is set to be offered a contract extension. If the champions can get Gvardiol to commit his future to the club they will have a player they can build their defence around tied down for the foreseeable future.

Harry Pratt has reported for the Daily Star that Manchester City are prepared to offer Gvardiol a contract extension. Pratt further reports that the new deal will keep City’s Rolls Royce at the club until 2030. Furthermore, Pratt adds that Gvardiol will likely get a pay rise included in his new contract. Pratt adds that currently, Gvardiol is earning £120,000 per week. The offer from City will see his wage rise to £150,000 Pratt further reports.

Josko Gvardiol is a player Manchester City can build their defence around.

Josko Gvardiol has made a tremendous impact at Manchester City since he arrived at the club 15 months ago. He has established himself as City’s first-choice left-back. Gvardiol has also shown that he can be a goal-scoring threat playing at left-back. He has scored two goals so far this season and his goals late last season were crucial to Manchester City’s Premier League triumph last season.

If Manchester City can tie Gvardiol down on a new deal they will have a player they can build their defence around committed to the club for the long-term. The Croatian international can play either as a left-back or as a centre-back. That versatility is a strength of Gvardiol’s game, on top of his all-around ability. He is regarded as one of the premier young defenders in world football. His performances for both club and country have cemented his status in the game. At only 22 years of age Gvardiol has his best years ahead of him which is saying something considering how good the Croatian defender already is. He looks to be the future of Manchester City’s defence and the hope is that he does sign a contract extension with Manchester City.

Harry Pratt’s report does give the impression that Josko Gvardiol could be set to sign a contract extension with the world champions. If that proves to be the, case then Manchester City will have the future of their defence tied down and they can build around him accordingly.
