Manchester United’s January transfer activity will hopefully include bringing in some fresh faces with Ruben Amorim desperate to add to his first team squad.

As always, a raft of names are being linked with a move to Manchester, with United short on numbers and quality at present.

One of the players reportedly on Amorim’s wish list is Napoli winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

However, it appears United are set to miss out on the Georgian international with Italian media suggesting that the wide man is close to joining French giants, Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 champions are in advanced talks over a €70 million fee which would be enough to see Napoli part with their star man.

PSG chiefs have made significant progress regarding the deal in the last 24 hours and are growing increasingly confident of getting their man.

Kvaratskhelia’s electric form over the last few seasons has made him one of the most sought-after players in Europe and PSG will see the signing as a major coup given the interest surrounding him.

The player is set to miss Napoli’s next fixture against Hellas Verona to protect him from any injury that may scupper the potential move.

With Marcus Rashford expected to leave Old Trafford in the coming weeks, Kvaratskhelia was seen as a direct replacement for the Englishman who has fallen out of favour with Amorim in recent weeks.

But given United’s spending constraints thanks to PSR rules, they are set to miss out on signing the Napoli superstar, much to the frustrations of the fans.

INEOS will no doubt be exploring any and all means to try and provide Amorim with better tools for the second half of the season with United in dire need of improvement.

The team has been stuck in the bottom half of the table for the majority of the campaign and need to turn the tide to avoid an all-time low Premier League finish.
