The midfielder Marc Casado returned to the starting line-up for FC Barcelona as Hansi Flick decided to put up a significantly rotated side for the La Liga game against Real Sociedad.

This occasion could not have turned out better for the La Masia graduate as he was finally able to score a goal for the first team. The young midfielder scored the second goal for his side, getting on the scoresheet in the 29th minute.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Casado was very happy to have scored this goal and proved his teammates wrong and he expressed this happiness as he talked to the media after the match:

“My teammates told me I wouldn’t score this season, but I’m very happy to get my first goal in this jersey.”

The Barcelona midfielder also praised Frenkie de Jong and was not too concerned for losing his starting spot:

“You have to accept that there are different moments throughout the season, and right now, I’m playing less. It’s part of football. Obviously, every player wants to play all the time. In the end, Frenkie is a fantastic player, a great person, and we have a great relationship.”

“This squad is very deep and full of world-class talent. There will be ups and downs throughout the season, and the important thing is to keep fighting.”

Casado recognised that the red card to Elustondo made the game significantly easier for them:

“We were playing well against Real Sociedad, a team that presses very well, and then the game turned in our favor with the red card. We knew how to take advantage of it and didn’t rush with the ball.”

Despite his side being on the top of the table, the midfielder recognised that they still need a lot of work to do:

“We are aware that we have to fight in every match and get as many wins as possible. There’s a great atmosphere in the squad. The team is doing a great job to be where we are right now, but there’s still a long way to go in La Liga, and we know there are many tough matches ahead.”

There are still 12 matches left in La Liga and hopefully, players like Casado will continue to make these contributions to help their team get another league title to their cabinet at the end of the season.
