Agent Jorge Mendes wasn’t as sure about the future of Francisco Conceiçao as Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli but heavily alluded that the winger would indeed be bought out eventually. He spoke to the press during the Golden Boy award (via Goal).
“He’s a very talented player who can star for any team in the world. He’s happy where he is, and the club feels the same. I’ll say he’ll 100 percent join them permanently only when he puts pen to paper. Right now, it’s just a strong possibility because he wants to stay and the Bianconeri will do everything to keep him. I think that, in normal conditions, everything will go well, but we’ll discuss it at the right moment.”
Mendes is reportedly working on bringing another of his clients, Antonio Silva, to Juventus, but he played coy in this case.
“It’s still too early. In football, you have to wait for the right time to understand what will happen. He belongs to Benfica. We’ll see in a few weeks.”
Despite the strange formula, it looks like the Old Lady did their homework well on the former. It’d be a surprise if they didn’t acquire him at this point, even if it’ll cost them a pretty penny. It’d be odd if they pulled the trigger relatively soon, as there’s not much urgency. Instead, their new defender will come down to the price tag and his team’s willingness to do business in January, which is always a touchy matter when it comes to players who aren’t outcasts.
