Miguel Almiron is no longer a first eleven choice at Newcastle United and during the last two transfer windows it was heavily rumoured that he could move to a club in the Saudi Pro League, as well as claims a return to play in the United States was on the cards.

The Telegraph now report in their exclusive, that clubs in both America and Saudi Arabia are now set to make their moves with the January 2025 window fast approaching.

Earlier this month, the team that Miguel Almiron supports, River Plate, were also reported to be set to make a bid in January, as they look to raise their overall quality ahead of playing in the World Club Cup in summer 2025.

If receiving an acceptable offer, it looks for sure that Newcastle United will sell.

Since starting in the 3-2 defeat to Chelsea in March 2024, Miguel Almiron has only started one other Premier League match, which was the 2-1 loss to Chelsea in October.

Apart from that Stamford Bridge start, Miggy has only played 34 other Premier League minutes this season in brief cameo appearances from the bench.

Miggy will turn 30 in February and as things stand, has only 19 months left on his Newcastle United contract, which is up to the end of June 2026.

‘Miguel Almiron will be allowed to leave Newcastle United in January as the Paraguay international is keen for a new challenge after fading out of Eddie Howe’s first-team plans.

Newcastle are still wrestling with profit and sustainability compliance issues and if they can find a buyer for Almiron it will give more flexibility to recruit either a right-sided forward as a direct replacement or a right-sided centre-back.

A £21 million signing from Atalanta in 2019, Almiron has been a popular figure on Tyneside but as the squad evolve, Newcastle desperately need an upgrade on the right side of their attack.
