Milan intend to add a midfielder in January and recently touched base to gather information about Reda Belahyane, who has taken advantage of some injuries to become a regular and has shown remarkable growth.
According to Matteo Moretto, his entourage has been informed of the interest. Inserting him into the Serie A list wouldn’t be an issue because he’s a U-22 player. He’s been tracked by a few sides. Inter were previously linked to him too.
Per Corriere di Verona (via Press Reader), Milan will have to battle with Olympique Marseille and Chelsea to capture Belahyane in January. He just made his maiden appearance with Morocco. The Scaligeri had paid just €500k to acquire him from Nice last January. His value is about €10M now.
The Rossoneri have had to start Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders in basically every game so far as Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Yunus Musah aren’t perfect fits for their 4-2-3-1 scheme. Ismael Bennacer underwent surgery due to a torn tendon in his thigh and isn’t expected back anytime soon.
The 20-year-old has logged 13 Serie A appearances and 2 assists so far. He had played just eight times with Le Gym before transferring.
It appears that they are seeking a versatile player who could back up both their starters. He’s been a revelation this campaign. Convincing Verona to sell is hardly an issue, as they pay close attention to the bottom line. It doesn’t hurt that they would be in good shape in the midfield even if they parted ways with him. While he’s on the rise, his track record of success is shorter relative to other options, for instance, Morten Frendrup.
