Motta and Thuram: We are aiming for victory in Lille encounter | OneFootball

Tomorrow evening, Tuesday 5 November 2024 at 21:00 (CEST), the Bianconeri travel to France to take on Lille on Matchday four of the UEFA Champions League league phase.

Coach Thiago Motta and Khephren Thuram spoke to the press ahead of the challenge against the French side.

KHEPHREN THURAM

"We will encounter many challenges against Lille tomorrow. They’re a very good team, with a very good coach and they have a good style of play. They always try to go forward, with a front foot approach and they always want to have possession. They have certainly already achieved two very important results – that were perhaps unexpected before kick-off - against two great teams in Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, but they earned those points. From our point of view, we have prepared for the match as always, with respect for the opponent. They are confident, but we will try and get all three points and return to Turin with a positive result. Who will play in midfield tomorrow? We all have different qualities. I have certain characteristics and my teammates have others. That's why the coach can choose from game to game depending on the opponents.

My father and my brother complimented me on my performance in Udine, but anyone who knows my dad knows that he's very strict and he immediately urged me to do better. I always try to be the best version of myself. Every day I try to surpass myself, in training as well as in the game."

THIAGO MOTTA

"Douglas Luiz is back in the squad and that's great news. We'll have an extra player who can help the team, either from the start or as a substitute. We're happy to have him with us. Vlahovic? Dusan is doing very well and now it's time for him to build on the good things he's shown in recent matches.

I have great respect for the Lille coach and all their players. [Bruno] Genesio has done a great job since he arrived at Lille. His team play very good football, defensively they are very solid and I am not surprised by the results they have achieved in the opening stages of the season. Lille find themselves in this situation thanks to the excellent work carried out by the club in recent months and years.

All matches are important. As Juventus we always want to win and the most important aspect must be to continue to want to improve in training and in the game. You always learn and you always improve. Every match has its own story. Tomorrow it will be crucial to play with maximum concentration in order to get a positive result. The opponent we will face is confident, but we are also in good form and we are ready to play our game."
