That Sir Bobby Robson classic at Elland Road takes some beating.

Back on 22 December 2001, Newcastle United winning 4-3 against Leeds United, despite having been 3-1 down at one point. That victory ensured Newcastle were top of the Premier League for Christmas 2001 – happy days.

On Saturday, Leeds United hosted another high scoring classic against Newcastle United.

However, this time it was the Under 18s of both teams involved.

Within 12 minutes, Joe Brayson and Logan Watts had put Newcastle 2-0 up.

Sean Neave added another two before half-time and with Leeds only managing a single goal, it was Newcastle cruising 4-1 at the break.

It all went a bit wrong though, as Leeds United scored the sixth, seventh and eighth goals of this contest, 4-4 after 77 minutes.

With only five minutes to go though, there proved to be a winner.

Newcastle United striker Sean Neave got his hat-trick and a 5-4 away win for the young Newcastle United stars.

Final score:

Leeds United Under 18s 4 Newcastle United Under 18s 5

Newcastle United team:

Anderson, Tika-Lemba (Old 81), Craggs, Johnson, Finneran (Mills 73), Watts, Wooster (O’Donovan 73), Alabi, Brayson, Neave, Ferreira

When it comes to goals and entertainment, the Newcastle United Under 18s are the ones to watch.

Saturday’s win over Leeds United means that in their last six games in all competitions, there have been 37 goals scored in total in these NUFC Under 18s matches. Newcastle scoring 18 and their opponents 19.
