Ahead of Newcastle v Aston Villa on Boxing Day, Nexus have issued important travel advice.
Information (see below) on the best way for Newcastle United fans to make their way to St James’ Park.
Supporters heading to the Newcastle United game at St James’ Park on Boxing Day, Thursday 26 December, are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journey due to the ongoing line closure on the Tyne and Wear Metro.
The Metro service is suspended between Monument and Heworth, which may impact some Newcastle fans heading to the Premier League game against Aston Villa for the 3pm kick.
The Metro line is shut between Monument and Heworth as a precaution due to the ongoing closure of the A167 Gateshead Highway flyover. The Metro tunnels run beneath the flyover.
Fans should plan their journey in advance allow more time to get to the game if travelling in the affected area.
Extra replacement bus service is will be running between Monument and Heworth.
Metro trains continue to run north bound from Monument to Newcastle Airport on the Green Line. We also continue to run on the Yellow Line from St James to Monument via the North Tyneside coast.
As things stand, Metro services are also still running from Heworth down to South Shields and to South Hylton on the Sunderland line with a 24 minute service in place.
All the latest updates can be found on the Nexus website, www.nexus.org.uk, and on the Metro’s X page (formerly Twitter) @My_Metro.
