Darwin Nunez has promised to ‘never give up’ after a costly miss in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.
Liverpool were held to a draw at Aston Villa on Wednesday night, missing the chance to move 10 points clear in the Premier League in the process.
After Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deflected equaliser for Liverpool, Nunez spurned a glorious chance to win the game for the Reds. The Uruguayan blazed over with an open goal gaping, after Dominik Szoboszlai had unselfishly squared the ball.
Nunez’s miss continues a difficult campaign for the 25-year-old, who has scored just four times in the Premier League this season. Arne Slot also criticised the player’s reaction to the miss, suggesting Nunez allowed the missed opportunity to impact the rest of his game.
Nunez has now taken to social media with a response, insisting he will continue to ‘get up’ after setbacks and ‘give his all’ until his last day at Liverpool.
“I wasn’t the best three weeks ago, and I’m not the worst now. If I fall, I get up. You’ll never see me give up,” Nunez wrote.
“I’m going to give it my all until the last day I’m here in Liverpool.”
