Espanyol have on Friday announced a defensive signing by way of La Liga rivals Real Madrid.
The player to have put pen to paper on terms with the Periquitos for the long-term? Pablo Ramón.
Ramón, for those not familiar with his name, is a 23-year-old defender, who generally lines out in a central position.
The Spaniard spent the last six years of his career on the books of reigning La Liga champions Real Madrid, before being farmed out on loan to Mirandés for the first time last season.
And it was during this stint that Ramón began to turn heads, standout out as one of the best defenders in the Spanish 2nd tier.
In turn, it came as a blow for both club and player when, back in April, the Mallorca native suffered a serious knee injury.
Ramón’s performances, though, had evidently already proven sufficient to convince one La Liga club of the stopper’s readiness to contribute at the top level.
In turn, as per a release across their website and social media platforms on Friday, Espanyol have signed Ramón outright from Real Madrid.
The Spaniard arrives on a free transfer through the summer of 2028, albeit with Los Blancos maintaining 50% of his playing rights.
