The Italian Referees Association has appointed Daniele Doveri as the main referee for Sunday’s encounter between Fiorentina and Inter Milan.

According to FCInterNews, Doveri will blow the first whistle at Giuseppe Meazza.

In addition, two veteran linesmen, Alessandro Costanzo and Andrea Scarpa, will be Doveri’s assistants.

Meanwhile, Silvio Mazzoleni and Giacomo Paganessiwill be in the VAR room.

The match between Fiorentina and Inter kicks off on Sunday, 18:00 CET, with the away side seeking their third consecutive victory.

Simone Inzaghi’s charges pulled off a narrow 1-0 home win against RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening.

Castello Lukeba’s own goal inspired Inter to their 12th successive game without losing, all competitions included.

Inter came flying out of the traps after November’s international break.

Joaquin Correa and Marcus Thuram thrashed Hellas Verona last weekend, leading the Nerazzurri to a 5-0 triumph.

However, there’s no room for complacency as the defending Serie A champions still trail Napoli by a single point.

Serie A Appoint Referee Daniele Doveri For Upcoming Clash Between Fiorentina & Inter Milan

Doveri made four Serie A appearances this season.

He was the match official in September’s blockbuster showdown between Juventus and Napoli.

Interestingly, just one of the four games he has officiated yielded a win for the away side.

However, Inter players must be careful, considering Doveri’s well-documented tendency to wave around with the bookings.

Doveri doesn’t allow anyone to undermine his authority on the pitch.

The 47-year-old has averaged 2.75 yellow cards per game this season while adding one red to the tally.

But like Joao Pinheiro, who officiated Inter’s meeting with Leipzig, Doveri rarely points to the spot.

Indeed, he has yet to award a penalty this term.

Nonetheless, Inter failed to convert their last penalty in Serie A.

Hakan Calhanoglu failed to beat Alex Meret when Napoli held the Nerazzurri to a 1-1 draw before the international break.
