RC Strasbourg centre-back Saïdou Sow (22) has joined Ligue 1 rivals FC Nantes on loan until the end of the season, both clubs have announced. The Guinean international defender’s move includes no option to make his switch permanent. Les Canaris were in the market for a centre-back in the wake of Nathan Zézé’s serious foot injury, which will keep him on the sidelines until March. Sow has made 13 appearances in all competitions for Strasbourg and played in 61% of the available minutes this season. The 22-year-old joined Strasbourg from Saint-Etienne eighteen months ago.
Sow is the second player to join Nantes this winter transfer window after Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes. The former Saint-Etienne centre-back is expected to partner Nantes stalwart Nicolas Pallois at the back of Antoine Kombouaré’s setup. Sow will wear the No. 24 jersey at Nantes. Les Canaris will host Pierre Sage’s Lyon this Sunday.
