One Chelsea player has taken the blame for a defeat this weekend and it is not the man you think it probably should be.
The news comes after Chelsea went down 2-0 against Newcastle United away from home on Sunday lunch time in a crucial game for the race for Champions League football next season.
Chelsea needed to win this game as much as Newcastle did, but a first half sending off by Nicolas Jackson did not help their cause. Enzo Maresca has admitted that Jackson now needs to learn from this situation moving forward.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher now believes that Chelsea have a big problem after this defeat with just two games remaining of the season and the reality being that The Blues need two wins to guarantee a place in the Champions League for next season.
After his sending off and now missing the rest of this season, it is Jackson who should be taking responsibility and coming out and apologising to the fans.
But so far at least, and he still might say something so we need to give him the benefit of the doubt for now, he has not said anything.
As you can see from his Instagram post above, midfielder Romeo Lavia has taken the blame for the defeat against Newcastle.
Lavia was robbed for the first goal and lost possession in a dangerous area, and Newcastle then broke in and scored the opening goal.
Fair play to him, but the defeat is not on him; these things happen, you are going to lose the ball from time to time. There was a lot of football played other than this sequence and overall Chelsea were terrible in the first half.
