Lorenzo Pellegrini had a liberating goal in the recent derby with Lazio, but his relationship with the Roma faithful remains checkered. He addresses the rumors, as he has been blamed for conspiring to get José Mourinho and Daniele De Rossi fired, in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.
“It was a shock when they axed the Special One because nobody expected it. We opposed it in late November. We had read the reports and asked Tiago Pinto about it, telling him there was no need and that we wanted to continue with him. He told us it was something made up by the journalists.” “My betrayal of De Rossi is pure fantasy too. I didn’t talk with the brass before his dismissal only because they knew my position, as I was totally on his side.”
Pellegrini addressed the boos by the Roma fans.
“The results have made things worse in general. Then, it’s a bunch of nonsense and lies spread to give the people some culprits. I’m always available to everybody, and I don’t keep up with the whispers. If anything, I’m on the wrong end of them.”
Pellegrini was coy about his future when asked whether this would be his final season with Roma.
À propos de Publisher“I try to avoid thinking about it and will let the pitch decide. I’m a fatalist and aim to stay upbeat. As long as I have a chance to wear this jersey, I’ll give my whole as I’ve always done. It’s important to me to look in the mirror and be happy with the man I am before the player. I don’t need to state my love for this side, as it’s so evident.”
