Pep Guardiola says City will make a final decision on whether Erling Haaland is fit to face Tottenham Hotspur after Tuesday afternoon’s latest training session.
The City striker has missed our last two games – last week’s Champions League trip to Real Madrid and Sunday’s Premier League home clash against Liverpool – after coming off early in our home win against Newcastle.
However, addressing the media at Tuesday’s pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday night's trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Guardiola said he hoped the Norwegian will have recovered to enough to be available for selection.
But he said he would only make a final decision after the City squad’s training session later on Tuesday.
“Tonight, we will know it after training. I hope so but I don’t know yet,” the boss revealed.
“He feels better but the last two games he could not play. We’ll see tomorrow.”
City will travel to the capital seeking a positive result to further boost our hopes of a top four Premier League finish and with it a place in the Champions League next season.
Spurs have so far had a mixed season results wise having, like City, been afflicted by a raft of injuries to key personnel.
However, they have won their last three league games and Pep said that Ange Postecoglou’s side would present a formidable challenge, especially on home turf.
“They're a fantastic team, with individual quality,” Guardiola added.
“The rhythm they play and intensity they do, incredible runners in the transitions but I think lately they have a few more extra passes.
“They can do it especially when James Maddison plays.
“The results dictate one thing, but the opinion of the team is the opposite.”
