Manchester City could be set for a double first-team debut this weekend, according to manager Pep Guardiola speaking openly for the first time on new signings.

The Premier League champions have announced the arrival of three new players within the space of just a few days this week, in a clear sign of intent regarding their rebuild of a squad that achieved everything within the game under Pep Guardiola in the last four years.

With a spend north of £120 million, and more arrivals being worked on by Txiki Begiristain and his colleagues, Manchester City have strengthened largely in defence, while Omar Marmoush has been brought in to add needed firepower in attack.

While all three of the players remain ineligible in the UEFA Champions League’s league phase, the opportunity for a debut could come as soon as this weekend, with the club’s head coach discussing two of his arrivals in a recent press conference.

Speaking prior to Manchester City’s eventual 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night, manager Pep Guardiola issued a warm welcome to the club’s first two new arrivals of the ongoing January market.

“Welcome to them, to the Man City family, I’m really pleased! They’re really young, young players, so they come for many years and different types,” Guardiola said when quizzed on the arrivals of Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.

Guardiola continued, “Khusanov played here in France, so physically is extraordinary, hopefully he can learn as quick as possible. And Vitor is a young talent in Brazil, and I’m really pleased.”

Asked whether he believes both players are immediately ready for Premier League football despite their age and recent arrival in England, Guardiola insisted that both players are “able to play already” ahead of the top-flight clash with Chelsea on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola is due to face the media ahead of the clash with Chelsea this weekend on Friday afternoon, in what will be his first opportunity to speak on the arrival of Egyptian international, Omar Marmoush.

The 25-year-old was confirmed by the club as having arrived on Thursday morning, after they finalised an agreement in the region of £59 million before add-ons with Eintracht Frankfurt, who were hesitant to sell for anything less than their lofty valuation of their star forward.
