Liverpool delivered a dominant performance at Anfield to claim their 20th top-flight title, matching Manchester United’s historic tally. Under the bright spring sun and amid an atmosphere heavy with expectation, Arne Slot’s side dismantled Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 to spark wild celebrations on Merseyside.
Despite the festive mood, there was an early jolt of tension when Tottenham snatched a surprise lead. A momentary lapse from Liverpool allowed the visitors to strike from a set-piece, briefly stunning the packed Anfield stands.
However, any notion of a title-day upset was swiftly extinguished. Liverpool responded with a ruthless sense of purpose, their composure intact. Within minutes, a flowing move saw Dominik Szoboszlai dart into space before delivering a pinpoint ball across goal, expertly converted by Luis Diaz to restore parity.
Liverpool’s tempo quickened and Tottenham’s resistance began to buckle. Pressing high and with purpose, Liverpool forced a mistake at the edge of the area, gifting Alexis Mac Allister the opportunity to unleash a thunderous drive into the top corner, turning the match firmly in their favour.

By now, Anfield’s confidence was brimming over. Cody Gakpo added a third with a composed finish, adjusting superbly to clip the ball beyond the Tottenham goalkeeper. Liverpool’s attacking fluidity, so emblematic of their season under Slot, was on full display as they overwhelmed their visitors.
Tottenham struggled to offer much by way of a response after the interval. The second half became a procession as Liverpool continued to dictate every passage of play. Mohamed Salah, a relentless force all season, struck Liverpool’s fourth, finishing off a swift counter-attack with typical precision.
Soon after, the fifth goal arrived in unfortunate fashion for Spurs. Destiny Udogie, attempting to deal with a teasing cross, inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net, further compounding Tottenham’s misery on an afternoon dominated by red shirts.
The closing stages were a celebration, a chorus of songs echoing around Anfield, acknowledging the brilliance of a team that has swept aside all challengers this season. This was not just a victory; it was a coronation performed with swagger, control and a touch of theatre.
Unlike their 2020 title win behind closed doors, this triumph was witnessed by a jubilant crowd. Flags waved, scarves were raised, and a new chapter was etched into Liverpool’s glittering history.
Slot’s remarkable first season in charge has not only delivered silverware but has reaffirmed Liverpool’s place at the summit of English football. With the 20th league title secured, Liverpool’s message to their rivals is clear: they intend to stay at the top.
