Real Madrid can go top of La Liga on Saturday afternoon with a victory over Las Palmas, as a result of Atletico Madrid’s defeat at Leganes 24 hours prior. The reigning champions have had a tough week up until now, although they will be looking to restore some pride at the Santiago Bernabeu.
It’s been a quick turnaround for Real Madrid after Thursday’s Copa del Rey last 16 tie against Celta Vigo, which needed extra time. Diario AS say that Federico Valverde, Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo Goes will return to the line-up, while Raul Asencio is to retain his place in the centre of defence as Aurelien Tchouameni will be in midfield as a result of Eduardo Camavinga’s injury absence.
Las Palmas, who have already won at Barcelona this season, go into this match on the back of a disappointing home defeat to Getafe, although they will see this one as a free hit. Adnan Januzaj is to return to the line-up in place of Juanma Herzog, with Javi Munoz set to play in defence.
Real Madrid should win this one rather comfortably, even without Vinicius Junior – who starts a two-match suspension. However, morale won’t be very high after a tough week, so it will be more difficult than usual, so Las Palmas can take advantage.
