Premier League Awards – Awesome Ouattara, Celebration police

Our Premier League Awards honour the best – and worst – of the weekend’s action, featuring Dango Ouattara, Erling Haaland and Iliman Ndiaye.

Moment of the Week

If there was any doubt that Bournemouth are potential top-four contenders this season, it’s gone now. Andoni Iraola’s side produced the performance of the weekend to stun Nottingham Forest on the south coast. Forest had won seven of their last eight Premier League games to sit in the Champions League places but were blown apart at the Vitality Stadium by a Bournemouth team bidding to catch them.

The Cherries won 5-0 at the Vitality Stadium to stretch their unbeaten run to 11 league games. They’re now just a point outside the top four, while only four points separates the teams placed third to seventh in a fascinating race for Europe.

Up next for Iraola’s in-form side is a date with Premier League leaders Liverpool. It is not one to be missed.

Player of the Week

Dango Ouattara inspired Bournemouth’s statement win over Nottingham Forest with the makeshift striker delivering for the Cherries. Injuries to Evanilson and Enes Unal threatened to derail a promising campaign for Andoni Iraola’s team but Ouattara has stepped up to lead the line.

The 22-year-old helped himself to a hat-trick against Forest, channelling his inner Cristiano Ronaldo with a ludicrous leap to head home his first. A well-taken second and predatory third completed his treble and an unforgettable afternoon.

Manager of the Week

Andoni Iraola certainly deserves his flowers but to avoid over-kill on Bournemouth’s big win we’re handing this accolade elsewhere.

Ruud van Nistelrooy faced flak from the Leicester fans a week ago, as the Foxes slumped to a seventh straight loss in the Premier League. The Dutchman’s team bounced back impressively this time around, earning a comeback win at struggling Spurs. Two goals in four minutes from Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannouss earned a priceless three points and lifted Leicester out of the relegation places. A result – and performance – to build on.

Goal of the Week

Who said Erling Haaland doesn’t make his own chances? A head-height pass at the halfway line hardly screams opportunity, but Haaland’s pace, power and finishing turned Ederson’s route one ball into a goal. Sure, Robert Sanchez’s walkabout made things easier, but that’s a terrific finish.

Save of the Week

Alisson Becker’s big hand earns our Save of the Week. The Brazilian did not have much to do against Ipswich at the weekend but came up trumps when called upon here. It’s the sign of a great goalkeeper.

Stat of the Week

Another grim statistic for Ange Postecoglou and Spurs…
