It is no secret that Barcelona are scouring the market for a new striker, even at a time when their star man Robert Lewandowski has been scoring goals for fun.

It appears Barça are mindful about the fact that Lewandowski is not getting any younger and the club lack a viable long-term alternative.

As a result, Barcelona have been linked with moves for several top attacking talents across Europe, including Alexander Isak of Newcastle United.

The Swedish international has emerged as a top option for Barcelona in their hunt for a new striker. But acquiring his services next summer could be tricky on account of his high valuation.

How much do Newcastle United want for Isak?

As a matter of fact, Newcastle United are demanding a fee of €170 million for the services of Alexander Isak.

This is according to the reliable David Ornstein, who confirmed that Newcastle United are expecting a massive inflow if they are to sell their star striker in the summer.

Newcastle’s valuation for Isak might seem expensive. But the club have more than one reason to justify the valuation considering the way the player has performed in the Premier League.

Since joining the Magpies, the former Borussia Dortmund forward has racked up 57 goals in less than 100 competitive matches, emerging as one of Premier League’s best forwards.

Even in the ongoing campaign, Isak has scored as many as 19 goals in 24 matches, a tally only bettered by Erling Haaland (20) and Mohamed Salah (25).

Moreover, Isak has experience in La Liga, where he scored 44 goals in 132 matches with Real Sociedad. This makes him one of the most qualified options in the market, as far as attackers are concerned.

However, a fee of €170 million still appears quite steep, especially for a club like Barcelona, who are still trying to level their balance sheet.
