Sheffield Wed. and Portsmouth face each other this Saturday at Hillsborough in Matchweek 45 of the EFL Championship.

The Owls currently have 56 points and lie in 13th position, Danny Röhl's side ending an eight-game winless streak at home with a 2-1 victory against Middlesbrough last time out.

Pompey meanwhile have 52 points to their name and are mathematically safe from the drop following their 1-0 win against Watford on Easter Monday.

The last meeting between the two teams ended with Wednesday running out 2-1 winners.

The Fan Zone

James Mappin (The WTID Podcast): A dead-rubber this weekend. We've been mid-table for a while now, Pompey secured their safety last time out. It's a chance for the players to go out there and just play football irrespective of whether they get paid or not on Friday.

Off the pitch antics have dominated this club for quite a while now and it's no different right now. A win on Monday was excellent to give us fans something to cheer about. Fingers crossed we can put the same desire and performance in on Saturday and see out the final home game of the season in style.

Prediction: 2-1

Freddie Webb (Pompey News Now): POMPEY STAYING UP OLE OLE!

After nine points from the first 15 matches and being bottom of the league at Christmas, the Blues have fought against adversity to remain in the Championship.

Credit to John Mousinho and the sheer determination from the players to make everything happen. Despite not scoring a hatful of chances against Watford, they got the precious three points they needed for survival.

The next two games will have a strange feeling about them. Players have already come out in the media stating they want to finish as high as they can and push to the end, but there will naturally be a drop off after achieving their goals.

A dead-rubber match against Sheffield Wednesday is tricky to call, with both sides having nothing to play for. If inclinings in the media are to be believed, Pompey may give some more of their youngsters and fringe players a chance to impress.

That would make the Owls favourites, but off-the-pitch problems and fan protests will also play a factor. Even with a rotated side, I believe the Portsmouth players will want it more.

Prediction: 0-2
