Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has admitted his ‘love’ for Mohamed Salah but has insisted there has been no talk over a potential move for the Liverpool winger.
Salah’s contract at Liverpool expires at the end of the season and he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides next month. There has been no breakthrough on a potential extension to his deal at Liverpool, despite his superb form this season.
The 32-year-old is the Premier League’s leading scorer and has 13 goals and eight assists in just 14 appearances for the Reds this season. He has averaged a goal involvement every 58.5 minutes in the Premier League in 2024/25.
PSG have been heavily linked with a move to sign Salah, with the French champions having failed to sign a replacement for Kylian Mbappe last summer. The Ligue 1 side lead domestically once again but have struggled in the Champions League this season.
Al-Khelaifi has admitted he has huge respect for Salah and is ‘proud’ of the player’s achievements in the Premier League, but said there have been no discussions about bringing him to Paris.
He said he would not discuss a potential move to sign Salah due to his respect for the Egyptian, Liverpool, and his current status under contract at Anfield.
“I love Salah, also because he came from our part of the world. I am very proud of him, honestly, for what he’s done in the Premier League with Liverpool,” Al-Khelaifi told Ben Jacobs.
“And I have big respect for him and for Liverpool. So we never talked to him. Respect Liverpool and respect the player – he has a contract with Liverpool and we never talked to him.”
