PSV also had an eye on Feyenoord-bound Steijn: ‘We definitely followed him’ | OneFootball

According to Earnest Stewart on the Studio Voetbal show, PSV also closely followed the actions of Feyenoord-bound Sem Steijn.

While the Eredivisie top scorer Steijn will transfer from FC Twente to Feyenoord after this season, his goal-getting antics were also closely followed in Eindhoven, only for a move not to materialise given the quality already at the club.

“Let’s say we definitely followed him,” Stewart revealed. “But we’re pretty strong in midfield, so that wasn’t an option for us.”

PSV already has three players who can play as number ten, with players like Ismael Saibari, Malik Tillman and Guus Til. Steijn, who has impressed at FC Twente this season and is the top scorer in the Eredivisie, was therefore not a concrete choice at the Philips Stadion.

It was previously announced that Feyenoord will be Steijn’s next destination. The 23-year-old is considered a new record purchase for the Rotterdam club and will soon sign a four-year contract that will keep him at De Kuip until the summer of 2029.
