kicker reports that RB Leipzig are the next team to show interest in Hoffenheim’s highly rated midfielder Tom Bischof, whose contract expires in the summer.
Bischof has been one of Hoffenheim’s standout players in a poor season in Sinsheim, even scoring a direct free kick against Leipzig in their 4-3 win at the weekend.
The 19-year-old, who recently won the Fritz Walter Gold medal in his age category, has a contract that expires in the summer meaning he could join any club on a free transfer. Leipzig are said to be interested in the midfielder, along with Eintracht Frankfurt, Bischof would fit into both teams’ philosophy and would have the opportunity to likely play Champions League football at either side.
However, Hoffenheim are determined not to lose Bischof on a free transfer and sports director Andreas Schicker has made it one of his main priorities to extend the 19-year-old’s contract. The only downside for Hoffenheim is that Bischof wants to wait and see how things develop under new head coach Christian Ilzer.
