Despite being constant pressure, especially in recent months, Carlo Ancelotti continues to achieve success at Real Madrid.
Having led the team to the FIFA Intercontinental Cup triumph earlier this month, the Italian became the most decorated manager in the Merengues’ history with 15 trophies to his name.
However, with interest in hiring Xabi Alonso, coupled with the team’s mixed campaign thus far, the 65-year-old’s position beyond this season continues to remain a bit uncertain.
Amidst this, Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Mundo Deportivo) reports that Ancelotti has emerged as one of the top managerial candidates for Serie A giants AS Roma.
After a disappointing start to the season, the Giallorossi announced the arrival of Claudio Ranieri to take charge of the team until the end of the season. His appointment came after unsuccessful tenures from Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric.

Despite the good work being done by Ranieri, Roma are exploring other managerial options for next season. And Ancelotti along with Massimiliano Allegri, who has been without a team since leaving Juventus in May, are the two main contenders.
Although he is under contract with Real Madrid until June 2026, it is reported that Ancelotti might consider a move to the Italian capital.
In Roma, he could also pave the way for his son, Davide, currently his assistant at Real Madrid, to eventually take charge of the team.
Nothing is concrete at this point though as the Friedkin family, who own the club, are also seriously evaluating the possibility of extending Ranieri’s contract for another year, given the improvement in the team’s performance.
In case, Real Madrid and Ancelotti do end up parting ways, Xabi Alonso, as mentioned previously, would be the preferred candidate to take over the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu.
