Real Madrid have been jumpstarted into action after a second thumping of the season at the hands of rivals Barcelona on Sunday night. It could see Liverpool face a fresh onslaught to bring in Trent Alexander-Arnold in the January transfer window.
Los Blancos are once again considering action in January, with the right-back position one of their priorities. According to Diario AS, Real Madrid are open to increasing their offer, after Liverpool turned down a €15m bid for the 25-year-old. Now they would be willing to increase that bid to €20m to bring in a player they have already agreed a deal with for the summer.ç
Even so, Relevo state that Liverpool’s firmness means Real Madrid are losing any hope they had of bringing in Alexander-Arnold during this transfer window. If they fail to bring in reinforcements, then Carlo Ancelotti will be left with a choice between Fede Valverde, Lucas Vazquez or Castilla right-back Lorenzo Aguado for the role. El Chiringuito say that Los Blancos will try to make a move, but they do not want to spend more than €35-40m.
If the gap is of just €5m, then it seems unlikely to persuade Liverpool to change their mind, who have more than that in prize money on the line this season. It does seem there’s an internal battle going on at Real Madrid about what they should do in January, but Alexander-Arnold does not look as if he would benefit too much from speeding up a move either.
