Despite facing a dire shortage of options at right-back, Real Madrid have their transfer plans for the left-back position all worked out ahead of the summer transfer window.
Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia have done a decent job covering the position, especially in a defensive sense given that Vinicius Jr provides the firepower in attack.
The management, however, desires a more attacking fullback and have thus charted out the perfect plan to sign Alphonso Davies on a free transfer. In fact, word has it that the player already has an agreement to join the Merengues.
With Davies set to arrive at the Spanish capital, the futures of Mendy and Garcia have been drawn into question as it is impossible to maintain three players in the same department.
The plan appeared to be to sell one of the two stars and the question plaguing the management was over which player to sacrifice.

Now, according to reports from Cadena SER, Real Madrid are considering a shocking decision to change the left-back position completely.
Indeed, the report suggests that both Mendy and Garcia may leave next summer with Davies taking charge. The club is listening to offers for both players and no longer rule out selling both current options.
Los Blancos’ decision is indeed a shocking one, for both players have been impressive in a defensive sense. It does, however, reopen the door to Miguel Gutierrez possibly returning as a backup left-back.
If Mendy and Garcia leave in June, Real Madrid will require a player to support Davies on the left and it would thus be the optimal chance to bring back the player who is on loan at Girona. After all, the club have a special clause to engineer his return home.
