With the serious injury suffered by Dani Carvajal, the right-back position is one of the areas that Real Madrid are looking to strengthen in the coming transfer windows. It is not yet clear whether the Merengues will bring in a new player for this position in January or in the summer, but it seems clear that this is a position that needs reinforcements.

As things stand, the Liverpool fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold is the fullback most closely linked with Los Blancos. His contract with the Premier League side ends at the end of this season, and he is naturally one of the most attractive options in the market.

However, Real Madrid are not unaware of other possible targets in case their pursuit of the Englishman does not bear fruit. According to Diario AS, one such target is the Spanish fullback Pedri Porro, who is currently playing for another Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur.

The report mentions that Alexander-Arnold is clearly the top target for the Merengues, but among the alternatives, the Spanish fullback is the one that appeals to Real Madrid the most. In fact, the Vikings have long been interested in him, since January 2023 when he secured his move to Tottenham from Sporting de Portugal.

But now, with the progress he has made in England, he is an even more attractive target for Los Blancos. At 25 years of age, he is significantly more mature, and although he played practically as a winger in Sporting, he has polished his defensive skills to significant extent while playing under Ange Postecoglou in England.

However, signing him will not really be easy for Real Madrid. Tottenham paid €45 million for him, and he has the same valuation on Transfermarkt today. He is also an established member of the London club, having already played 10 games this season, and Postecoglou considers him to be an essential part of his team going forward.

For now, Real Madrid’s interest in him is still informal. The operation for Trent Alexander-Arnold will determine whether this interest will grow in the coming months.
