Throughout this season, there have been questions asked about Carlo Ancelotti and his future at Real Madrid.

The Italian tactician has a contract with Los Blancos until 2026 and has already won two titles this season while still being in contention for La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League.

However, the team has had ups and downs over the course of the season, raising doubts about the 65-year-old’s continuity beyond this season.

In the scenario that Real Madrid do decide to change things up in the summer, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso is seen as the ideal candidate to take over the reins at the Santiago Bernabeu.

No problems expected from Bayer Leverkusen

Now, providing an update on the entire situation, Fabrizio Romano reports that if Real Madrid decide to move for Alonso at the end of the season, there will be no problems with regard to getting a green light from his current employers, Bayer Leverkusen.

For now, the Spanish capital club are completely focused on seeing out the rest of the season with Ancelotti, whom they respect very much, at the helm of affairs.

The situation will be assessed at the end of the season and, as things stand, everything is in the hands of Real Madrid and what they decide.

Romano further adds that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is a great admirer of Alonso and sees him as a future manager at the club. The former midfielder is certainly seen as the ideal candidate to take over the reins if they part ways with Ancelotti.

But for now, there is full respect for Ancelotti and the job that he is doing and any decision regarding a potential change in managers will be considered once the season is over.
