Real Madrid are “worried” about Chelsea’s intense interest in Dean Huijsen, football paper AS are reporting in Spain.

Los Blancos are keen on the Bournemouth defender, and he would favour a move to the Spanish capital by all accounts. But Chelsea are moving quickly, with their intention being to secure the Bournemouth defender as a new signing at the start June, so that he’s ready to feature at the Club World Cup.

Chelsea to take advantage of release clause for quick strike

Madrid aren’t going to be ready to get serious so soon – in fact, they don’t even know who their managed will be next season. Chelsea meanwhile are keen to use the €60m release clause in Huijsen’s contract to speed through a deal. If they have accepted they’re willing to pay that, it should be a pretty simple negotiation with the Cherries to tweak that final sum according to how we want the payment organised.

Then it just comes down to negotiating with Huijsen, and no matter how much he would prefer a Madrid move, he’s not likely to turn down a move to Stamford Bridge which is all signed and sealed and ready for him to approve.

Huijsen looks by far Chelsea’s biggest summer target at the back

Huijsen isn’t the only target we’re looking at – the likes of Marc Guehi are clearly being considered as alternatives, should the Spanish international hold out for a Madrid bid or perhaps even a move to our Premier League rivals Liverpool.

But by all accounts we’re moving hard for Huijsen, and fast. Whether or not we get him in time for the Club World Cup is one question, but either way it seems we’ll know pretty soon if he’s going to be a Blue next year or not.
