Real Madrid forward Rodrygo reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Manchester City last summer, reaffirming his commitment to the Spanish giants, reports Jorge Picon (h/t Madrid Xtra).
It is said that despite the tempting proposal from one of Europe’s most successful teams, both Rodrygo and Real Madrid were clear about their intentions to continue their association.
The situation unfolded towards the end of the last season when Rodrygo played a pivotal role in helping Real Madrid secure the league title and make a deep run in the Champions League.
His tally of 18 goals and nine assists proved to be instrumental in solving many of the team’s attacking issues.
Yet, the spotlight was often shared between his teammates, Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham. This lack of recognition left Rodrygo feeling somewhat overlooked, despite his contributions on the pitch.
This period of underappreciation, coupled with personal challenges, reportedly led to moments of frustration for the Brazilian forward.

While he admitted to making mistakes during this time, it did not shake his resolve to remain at Real Madrid.
Turning down Manchester City’s offer served as a clear statement of his desire to thrive at Real Madrid. However, he also sought more acknowledgement for his efforts, feeling he deserved greater recognition from the club and its supporters.
Furthermore, even with the high-profile arrival of Kylian Mbappe last summer, Rodrygo did not shy away from the competition.
Instead, he chose to fight for his place in the squad, determined to prove his value. After enduring injuries earlier in the campaign, the forward appears to be back in top form.
In the last three matches, he has netted three goals and provided two assists, consistently emerging as one of the standout performers on the field.
Rodrygo’s recent resurgence demonstrates his resilience and determination to solidify his position at Real Madrid, proving that he is an essential part of the club’s future.
