As confirmed earlier today, Real Madrid’s weekend clash against Valencia scheduled to take place at Mestalla has been called off in light of the horrific floods that killed over 100 people this week.
Los Blancos have extended complete support to Valencia in that regard and all games scheduled to take place in the Valencia territory have been postponed.
La Liga and the clubs are thus supposed to provide RFEF with the revised dates for the fixtures by next Tuesday, but in Real Madrid’s case, the situation has turned into a mess.
As revealed in a recent update by AS, Real Madrid’s calendar is simply too stacked to accommodate any more fixtures for the club have no vacancy midweek in the near future.
With multiple competitions cropping up including the Copa del Rey, Spanish Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Club World Cup alongside La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, there is simply no window to fit in the game against Valencia.

The first week where Real Madrid have a vacancy available is between May 19th and 25th, the final week of the league campaign and that is the only guaranteed date available on the calendar as it stands.
It is possible that gaps open up in the future based on the team’s performances across competitions. Early elimination from tournaments like the Spanish Cup, after all, will create vacancies on the calendar as is the case in the UCL knockout stages.
The Spanish outlet also adds that the new format of the UEFA Champions League has only complicated the uncertainty as Real Madrid’s calendar will depend on where they finish on the league table.
Should Los Blancos finish in the top 8, they will be free on February 11th-12th and 18-19th to accommodate the game at Mestalla. If they finish between 9 and 24, however, they will have an added knockout round on the aforementioned dates as well.
The final remote option is to hold the game on 2nd January, cutting short players’ Christmas vacations.
Considering that the team travels to Qatar for the Intercontinental Cup at the end of December, play in the Copa del Rey on January 5th and then head to Jeddah for the Spanish Super Cup on January 8th, it will be very hectic for the players.
