Star wingback Carlos Augusto returned to Inter Milan training on Monday after being on the sidelines for nearly a month.

According to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old trained with the rest of the group in today’s session at Appiano Gentile.

Carlos Augusto suffered a muscular problem in a narrow 1-0 UEFA Champions League win at Young Boys last month.

Artificial turf in Bern took its toll on the ex-Monza ace, as he required a substitution early in the second half.

Though it seemed like an innocuous issue at first, Augusto had to stay out of action for nearly 30 days.

Indeed, Simone Inzaghi was unable to call upon his services in the last five matches across all competitions.

Luckily for Inter, Augusto’s injury, though affected the squad’s depth, didn’t influence the team’s on-field success.

The reigning Scudetto holders won three of their five games without the Brazilian defender, with the other two ending level.

With Inter embarking on preparations for Saturday’s trip to Hellas Verona, Inzaghi welcomed Augusto back to the fold.

However, the situation is far from idyllic.

That’s because Hakan Calhanoglu is facing another spell in the treatment room.

Indeed, the 30-year-old renewed his thigh problem during Turkey’s scoreless home draw against Wales last weekend.

Therefore, he will skip the upcoming encounter at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

As if that’s not concerning enough, Calhanoglu could be unavailable for Inter’s Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig.

In his absence, Kristjan Asllani should gain long-awaited minutes.

The Albanian midfielder has been on the fringes since his last Serie A appearance against Monza in mid-September.

But Inzaghi contemplates deploying him against Verona to fill the void left by Calhanoglu’s injury.
