AC Milan are in league action this lunchtime as they entertain Parma, yet a lot of the chatter once again related to Santiago Gimenez.

As a quick recap, Milan launched a first official offer for Gimenez in recent days that was not deemed sufficient by Feyenoord. The Dutch club are understandably holding out for the amount they want, given they do not wish to lose him mid-season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan are preparing a ‘new official bid’ for Gimenez which will be ‘sent next week’. A contract until June 2028 plus an option for another year has been ‘agreed in principle’ as the Mexican striker is ‘keen on the move’.

Matteo Moretto of Relevo confirms that a ‘second official offer’ will soon be put forward. The Rossoneri are ‘ready to make a significant financial effort’ and hope to get closer to Feyenoord’s requests.

The former Cruz Azul man has reached an agreement with Milan over a three-and-a-half-year contract plus an optional one. For Giménez, he sees this as an ‘important career opportunity’ and one that he wishes to seize now.

Then there is the front page of Record, a big sports newspaper in Mexico. Their front page is dedicated to Gimenez’s move, with the headline: ‘Sera porque te amo’, an obvious remix of the Milan song ‘Sarà perché ti amo’.

Record adds: “Milan, the club with the second-most Champions League wins in the world, has sent a formal offer for Gimenez. These are crucial hours for the future of Bebote [a nickname], who will take Abraham’s place in Conceicao’s squad.”

They go on to state that the first bid was €30m, a figure far from the €40m that Feyenoord intend to obtain. Furthermore, they speak of an agreement in principle over personal terms already being in place.
