As 2025 approaches, Viktor Gyökeres is drawing attention from several top European clubs, with Sporting Lisbon reportedly ready to sell their star striker. However, one club seems to be ahead in their pursuit of the Swedish forward.
L’Équipe’s Loïc Tanzi reports that Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring Gyökeres and plan to move for him in the summer of 2025. PSG’s sporting advisor, Luís Campos, is said to have already made contact with the player’s representatives.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also in the mix, with coach Rúben Amorim—who previously worked with Gyökeres at Sporting—pushing for a transfer. The Premier League club appears keen to secure the striker.
According to Sport, Barcelona have a plan to sign Gyökeres for around €70 million, with the intention of leaving him on loan at Sporting for another season.

Sporting Lisbon fell 5-1 to Arsenal on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League this week, prompting Rio Ferdinand to quickly highlight the striker’s weaknesses amid rumors linking the player to Old Trafford.
“His strengths played into the strengths of the two central defenders he was up against and that’s what he’d find in the Premier League week in week out,” Ferdinand told TNT Sport (h/t TEAMtalk). “Two big strong center halves the majority of the time. Can he deal with them?
‘It wasn’t until Gabriel went off that he actually got a bit of joy against Kiwior, a player who’s not as big and not as strong. These two centre halve are the best as a partnership and they didn’t give him an ounce the whole game.
“He’s been crucifying teams in those areas running the channels, these guys look supremely comfortable in doing that. Have I seen enough to say he can come to the Premier League and be a success? I’m not saying he wouldn’t, but I’m saying you’d need to see more than what we saw today.”
