In what has been an increasingly frustrating period for Sheffield Wednesday, they will, once again, have to suffer a transfer embargo this January.

Sheffield Wednesday were placed under a transfer embargo by the EFL at the end of October, for a failure to meet a HMRC payment deadline, one year on from a similar situation which saw them head into a transfer embargo.

This January the possibility of Danny Rohl's plans coming to fruition feels very unlikely and puts a roadblock in the way for Wednesday to progress.

No doubt Rohl would've wanted to strengthen his side in the hopes they can avoid the drop and kick on into the top-half of the table.

Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri is under real scrutiny at the moment and something will need to change drastically in the future.

FLW's Sheffield Wednesday fan pundit, Patrick McKenna, details his one concern with the embargo playing a major role.

"In regard to the one concern I have about the January transfer window, it will be, of course, the transfer embargo put on the club.

"We're questioning whether funds will be available at all. Of course, the embargo will match with the concerns of the fanbase regarding investing and gives a real blow to Danny Rohl and his plans.

"He has a vision for this club and will have done his research on areas he wants to address and players he wants to bring in, and now, his plans could be up in flames.

"His plans aren't there now. Of course, the club has come out and said it's a small problem, and we'll get it sorted, but I'm not sure if it will. It's just really pointing at more cash flow issues and funds won't be available.

"It's depressing really. Rohl is going to be restricted and frustrated in terms of his plans for the club. It feels like we're going backwards again, and the supporters shouldn't be in constant fear of the possibility of an embargo.

"Our manager has to suffer again and his job is so much harder than other managers in the league. With the embargo, it's definitely the main concern and any other concerns I had are pretty much irrelevant due to the club's situation."

Rohl is not to blame for Wednesday's troubles

Danny Rohl is not to blame for the failures of the Owls hierarchy.

If anything, he has overachieved with the limited resources he has been given, and he is still doing a splendid job this season.

If things do turn to the worst again for Wednesday, you should look no further than the wrongdoings of the people above Rohl.

Just a year ago, they faced the same situation. Whilst it all worked out fine in the end, and the hope will be the same unfolds this year, the fact Wednesday are back at this point screams a lack of progress and that's not ideal at all.
