AC Milan Women's run in the 2024/25 Coppa Italia has come to an end in the quarter-finals: after the 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Rossonere fell to a 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina in the return fixture after a goal in each half for the hosts. The Viola took the lead in the 31st minute after an unfortunate own goal by Lautaro Giuliani - who otherwise put in an impeccable performance, making at least three big saves) - and then sealed victory through a penalty from Severini in the final 15 minutes, meaning they'll be the ones to face the winners of Juventus v Lazio in the semi-finals.
A disappointing outcome for the Rossonere, who gave it their all over the course of the 90 minutes but also likely felt the fatigue after putting in a big effort to come from behind in the league against Roma. And it's in Serie A where the group will look to bounce back from today's result, with just 180 minutes remaining of the regular season. The Rossonere, whose next fixture is away to Sassuolo at 18:00 CET on Saturday 1 Febuary, have two games left to try and secure their spot in the Champions Round. Come on, girls!

MATCH REPORT The match started at a slow pace, with the Rossonere seeing a lot of the ball in the opening quarter of an hour but failing to create any real goalscoring opportunities. The hosts had the first real effort of the game as Giuliani comfortably kept out a long-range strike from Janogy. AC Milan responded through Stokić (27') and Arrigoni (28'), but both attempts finished off target. Bonfantini hit the post on the half-hour mark for Fiorentina, who took the lead just a minute later through an unfortunate Giuliani own goal from a Janogy cross. Before the break, Ijeh and Arrigoni took aim for the Rossonere, but to no avail.
After the restart, Durante needed two attempts to save a powerful left-footed effort from Cernoia, while Giuliani produced an excellent stop to keep out an effort from Janogy from distance. Our No.1 then tipped a strike from Bonfantini onto the crossbar (55') before making another great save to foil Catena (59'). The Rossonere went back on the attack and hit the bar through a header from Ijeh in the 74th minute. Two minutes later, however, Fiorentina doubled their advantage: Cernoia was penalised for a foul on Bonfantini, and Severini stepped up to convert the resulting penalty. AC Milan didn't give up and threatened through Renzotti and Dompig, but Fiorentina ran out 2-0 winners.
