Southampton are set to be without Adam Lallana for "a couple of weeks".
Lallana was an early withdrawal for Russell Martin's side during the first half of their defeat to Liverpool last Sunday with a suspected hamstring issue.
The veteran playmaker is now facing a spell on the sidelines that sees him ruled out for Friday's reunion with another of his former clubs in Brighton.
“Adam Lallana is out which is a shame," said Martin.
"I think he would’ve loved to have been out on the pitch at a place he had a really good time at for four years or so.
"Adam’s going to be [out] a couple of weeks, so probably [miss the] next couple of games I would’ve thought."
However Martin is optimistic that Paul Onuachu will be available for the trip to the Amex Stadium despite also being forced off against the Premier League leaders.
He added: “Paul’s being assessed, so fingers crossed Paul will come through alright.
"It’s not a bad injury at all which is really good news for us, just a niggle so hopefully we can manage that and he can be involved.”
The Saints remain rooted to the foot of the table with just four points from their opening 12 games.
