The new season for the Orlando Pride is highlighted by the Challenge Cup. This is a single-match competition bringing the Washington Spirit to take on the Pride one more time.
This NWSL Championship rematch will open the Pride season in Orlando on March 7.
The entire NWSL season includes 190 matches ending in an eight-team playoff bracket. The regular season opens for all teams on March 14. There will be a summer break from June 23-29.
Confederation competition is set for July, where the players will get called up for UEFA Women’s Euro, Copa America Femenina, and other tournaments.
From the kickoff of the Challenge Cup, the league will be studying how the Orlando Pride players continue building momentum.
On Friday, March 14, the teams begin a 26-match schedule spanning 25 weeks.
This season, the waiver wire is eliminated, so all player contracts are guaranteed. Also, As of Jan. 15 trade windows are eliminated. While trades require consent, they may occur anytime until rosters are frozen. That date is Oct. 9.

The primary transfer window opens on Jan. 28 and closes on March 24. The secondary transfer window opens July 1 – the same date as the opening of the 2026 free agency period – and closes Aug. 25.
The team’s momentum must continue to grow through all those dates.
After a regular season in which they broke league records, they carried this steadily growing success into the post-season. These records include the most wins in a single season, 18, and the most points with 60.
After they continued and won the NWSL, they brought to Orlando the city’s first major league championship.
