The Serie A Women's Regular Season finished in the best possible way for Juventus, who crushed Milan at the ‘Vismara’ stadium in Milan six goals to nil, thanks to Cristiana Girelli's hat-trick and goals from Boattin, Bergamaschi and Vangsgaard.
Juventus entered the pitch with the right kind of attitude and tried to shape the game, gaining ground with an orderly manoeuvre. In the 12th minute, Brighton's first real chance came in the scramble, but the Rossoneri's defence pushed back with difficulty. Shortly after, Krumbiegel had a golden opportunity at 14 minutes, but couldn't bring it to fruition.
In the 17th minute Girelli came very close to scoring with a header from Boattin's cross, but the angle was slightly wrong, and the ball finished high. Juve, however, pushed on and in the 26th minute the advantage that they deserved arrived: Cristiana Girelli stood out in the area and with a clinical header beat Giuliani, putting the Bianconeri ahead.
There was no time for Milan even to regroup when the second arrived. A sprinting action of a textbook nature orchestrated by Cantore and Bonansea and finished by Boattin, who pounced on an empty goal in order to score. A deadly one-two that broke the legs of the Rossoneri.
Milan tried to react but failed to create any real danger. In the 30th minute another key episode arrived: a foul in the box and a penalty kick for Juventus. From the penalty spot, Girelli was perfectly on target and made it 3-0, making the match more or less over at that point.
The hosts felt the blow and Juventus took advantage to finish things off definitively at 39 minutes. Krumbiegel lit the fuse on the flank, delivering a perfect cross and again Girelli, with an imperious header, sealed her personal hat-trick and virtually took the ball home. This resulted in 4-0, with the match practically finished before half-time.
In the second half, Juventus managed the pace without ever conceding opportunities to Milan. In the 51st minute Vigilucci attempted to shoot from a distance, but Peyraud-Magnin got on top of it and saved it without any problem.
Milan raised their centre of gravity in an attempt to at least find the goal, but without troubling the Bianconeri defence. The 71st minute was the only real chance for Juve, with Peyraud-Magnin forced into an amazing attempt to save the goal as a result of a dangerous scramble.
In the dying minutes the bianconere gained possession without putting anything at risk, and even got close to scoring five goals, first with Krumbiegel (crossbar at the 78th minute) and then with Lehmann, who was insidious four minutes later from the right. There was only ever Juve even in the final, with Giuliani saving the 84th minute goal attempted by Bergamaschi who had run towards her.
In the dying minutes, the bianconere continued to trouble the scoreboard: first with Bergamaschi, who succeeded in scoring in the 88th minute, and then with a brilliant final goal by Vangsgaard in the 92nd minute.
The match was a perfect attempt to strive towards the Poule Scudetto.
MASSIMILIANO CANZI
"You must not lose your balance, at any time; the road is still very long, although obviously having a good advantage is better. We came from a game in which we had collected less than we deserved, today with a similar performance we collected much more against a team towards which we have great respect. Girelli? She is in a terrific period, she is a leader of the group and I am particularly happy for her. The team in recent months has proved to be incredibly compact, both on and off the field, it is a source of pride."
CRISTIANA GIRELLI
"We are very happy, but we know that there are still a few games left and accounts are always settled at the end. We experience every game like this, and we maintain our mentality until the end, because now the Scudetto Poule will be complicated and, after last year, we have a great desire for revenge. I am happy, we play a brand of football that makes us enjoy and we create a lot, maybe I could have scored a few more goals this season, but for now I am satisfied."
VALENTINA BERGAMASCHI
"I didn't celebrate out of respect for a club to which I owe a lot; but I am happy to have helped the team bring home the three points, it is very important. Winning helps to win, it helps us gain confidence and trust, we are really happy with our position in the standings. I was afraid to face Milan today, because especially at home they are strong, but we arrived here with the right attitude. Now a very challenging and not taken for granted phase opens up, as the various results show: it will certainly be a very exciting Scudetto Poule."
