Inter 2-0 Fiorentina

Inter bounced back from their Coppa Italia exit to take maximum points from Saturday’s home meeting with Fiorentina. Michela Cambiaghi headed in from Annamaria Serturini’s floated cross to give the hosts a sixth-minute lead.

Inter had to wait until the 71st minute to double their advantage through Lina Magull. The Germany international drilled the ball past Cecilie Fiskerstrand after being played through by Martina Tomaselli. The win helped second-placed Inter close the gap to Juventus to five points.

Roma 4-0 Sampdoria

Manuela Giugliano got Roma up and running in the 18th minute, producing a stunning strike from the edge of the box. The 27-year-old repeated the trick before half-time, collecting the ball outside the box before lashing it past the despairing Amanda Tampieri.

After taking a two-goal lead into the break, the reigning champions went on to add two more goals to their tally in the second period. Alice Corelli fired into the top corner after plucking Evelyne Viens’s cross out of the air with a deft touch. As the game moved past the hour mark, Emilie Haavi pounced on a rebound to blast home a fourth goal and wrap up a dominant win for the hosts. However, the third-placed side still need to close a sizable eight-point gap to the top of the table.

Sassuolo 2-3 AC Milan

Milan fought back from two goals down to take maximum points from their away meeting with Sassuolo. Lana Clelland lifted a bouncing ball over the onrushing Laura Giuliani to give the hosts a narrow lead. Davina Philtjens swiftly doubled the advantage to put Sassuolo in a strong position. However, Valery Vigilucci pulled a goal back just moments later, nodding in from close range to give Milan a crucial foothold.

The visitors may have been trailing at the break, but that all changed when the referee pointed to the spot for a handball infringement. Evelyn Ijeh fired the penalty into the bottom corner, restoring parity with a quarter of the match left to play. Ijeh quickly turned to the provider, feeding the ball to Sara Stokić, who chopped back onto her right foot before driving the ball home to complete a stunning turnaround.

As a result of the comeback, fifth-placed Milan are now sitting three points clear of Como in sixth position ahead of the final match of the first phase of the Serie A Femminile season.

Juventus 1-1 Napoli

Serie A leaders Juventus would have been bitterly disappointed to drop points in their home meeting with relegation-threatened Napoli. Juve appeared to be in control when Sofia Cantore opened the scoring in the 52nd minute. The forward tapped the ball in from close range to score her ninth league goal of the season.

However, Juventus felt aggrieved when Hanna Bennison saw her deflected effort chalked off after the officials ruled the ball went out of play in the build-up. Napoli ultimately made the most of that reprieve, restoring parity through Klara Andrup’s 76th-minute effort.

The visitors saw out the remainder of the contest to move to within a point of Sampdoria in ninth spot in the Serie A table, while Juventus keep their lead at the top.

Como 1-2 Lazio

Como suffered a significant blow in their bid to finish in the Championship group ahead of the split in Serie A Femminile. Clarisse Le Bihan produced a downward header from Martina Zanoli’s deep cross to open the scoring in the seventh minute. Flaminia Simonetti doubled Lazio’s advantage around the midway point of the first half. The 27-year-old pounced on Roberta Aprile’s parry to drive home her first league goal of the season.

Lazio held on to their two-goal cushion before the match threw up a couple of moments of late drama. First, goalkeeper Sara Cetinja was sent off for handling the ball outside the box. Como took full advantage of the subsequent free-kick, with Zara Kramžar curling her low strike into the net. However, it ultimately proved to be too little too late as Como fell to a narrow defeat.
