Sevilla eyeing Antony-style move for Chelsea outcast

Antony’s move to Real Betis has re-valued him at Manchester United, and Chelsea could look to do similar with one of their own outcasts – that being Mykhailo Mudryk, who is attracting La Liga interest.

Mudryk arrived at Chelsea during the 2023 winter transfer window from Shakhtar Donetsk, and he promises much as he was signed for an initial fee of €70m. However, he has struggled to make a proper impact at the Premier League club, and to make matters worse, he is currently not allowed to play after the English Football Association suspended him in December after he tested positive for doping.

Both Chelsea and Mudryk believe that he is innocent, and they hope that his suspension will be lifted before the summer transfer window opens. If so, it is almost certain that a move away will be sought for the Ukrainian winger, and if that is the case, he will have the chance to resurrect his career in Spain.

As reported by Sport, Sevilla are showing interest in Mudryk, and they are hoping for a deal similar to the one that Betis did with Man United for Antony. The idea would be to bring him on loan to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan for the 2025-26 season in order to get away from the Chelsea limelight, and in doing so, the 24-year-old could manage to return to the form that he showed at Shakhtar.

The report states that Mudryk would welcome a move to Sevilla as he would see it as an opportunity to play football regularly, which he has failed to do at Chelsea. The London club could also look upon it favourably, and they only have to look at Antony’s exploits on the other side of Seville to know that it is an option that could be greatly beneficial for them in their bid to get rid of him on a permanent basis in the coming years.
