After being called up to the England senior team, Southampton star Taylor Harwood-Bellis has admitted to advice given to him by Man United legend Roy Keane.

For better or for worse, Southampton now face the dreaded international break. However, this international break is slightly different to those in recent history.

In fact, there were three Saints called up to international duty for England. Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Aaron Ramsdale were selected for senior England duty, although the latter has since dropped out through injury. Furthermore, Tyler Dibling was promoted to the U21 England squad for the first time.

Speaking ahead of potentially marking his first senior England cap, defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis has admitted to taking advice from Man United legend Roy Keane.

In an interview with the media, Taylor Harwood-Bellis has said that being in discussion with his future father-in-law Roy Keane has helped him tremendously.

In his own words, Taylor Harwood-Bellis said: “It’s something that is good and I take a lot of advice [from Roy Keane.”

England face the Republic of Ireland in their second of the two fixtures this international break. The fixture comes after facing Greece and will be played this weekend.

However, Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis has taken some great advice from perhaps Ireland's greatest ever player, ahead of the fixture. This will, in no doubt, make him a better player for both England and Southampton.

Roy Keane is a Premier League legend. He is certainly in the conversation for the best captain in history, with many even placing him highest on the pedestal. His playing style centred around grit, tenacity and leadership. That's not to take away from his technical prowess, though.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis is still in the early stages of his career. He is just 22 years old which many of us, myself included, consider as young. For a centre back, he certainly won't be considering retirement for at least another decade.

Hopefully, Southampton can give Harwood-Bellis everything he wants to flourish as a great centre-back. However, there is always doubt in the air about Southampton's ability to keep their best young players.

It is clear to see, just by watching him, that Harwood-Bellis has taken great influence from his mentors. Man United fans won't like hearing this, but he has also taken great influence from Roy Keane's hated club, Man City. He did come through their academy, after all.
