Goalkeeper Josep Martinez will make his long-awaited debut for Inter Milan against Udinese.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They also report that Tajon Buchanan will make his first start for Inter in the Coppa Italia clash.

26-year-old Spanish international keeper Martinez joined Inter over the summer.

The Nerazzurri signed Martinez to be the long-term successor to Yann Sommer in goal.

So far this season, though, there has been little sign of Sommer needing an heir. The Swiss has played every minute of the campaign for Inter to date.

This evening, though, Martinez will finally get his opportunity in the Inter starting eleven.

Former Bayern Munich and Borussia Monchengladbach veteran Sommer will drop to the bench. And Martinez will make his first start of the season.

Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, Martinez won’t be the only notable name on the Inter teamsheet.

Canadian international wingback Tajon Buchanan will also start on the right flank.

Buchanan has already made quite a few appearances for Inter. But so far these have all been as a substitute.

Buchanan will therefore be making his first ever start for the Nerazzurri, having joined last January.
