Bayer Leverkusen will be intensely searching for a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer market as one of their current goalkeepers Matej Kovar will be allowed to leave the club at the end of the season.
According to Kicker, Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega is an option that is being considered to come in and fight for the number one spot with Lukas Hradecky.
Ortega is currently the second-choice goalkeeper at Manchester City and is wishing to play more regularly.
The German has played a total of 16 matches in all competitions this season, with ten of those coming in the Premier League.
His contract runs out in the summer of 2026, with his market value being currently around €9 million.
The 32-year-old also possesses experience in the Bundesliga as he played in the German top flight 67 times for Arminia Bielefeld before his move to England.
Espanyol’s 23-year-old goalkeeper Joan Garcia is also a popular goalkeeper and could be an option for Xabi Alonso to sign.
