Milan fought back from being two goals behind to win 3-2 in an impressive victory over rivals Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana final in Riyadh on Monday night, largely thanks to the performances of Theo Hernandez, Rafael Leao and Tammy Abraham.

Here are the player ratings from an excellent game for the neutral.

Sommer 5.5 – Alert when he needed to be in the first half, but perhaps could have done a bit better from Theo Hernandez’s free-kick, when he was rooted.

Bisseck 5 – Conceded a couple of chances up against Christian Pulisic for large spells.

De Vrij 6.5 – Provided an excellent ball over the top for Mehdi Taremi’s goal minutes into the second half, and had another relatively sound game defensively at the heart of the Inter defence. (Darmian N/A)

Bastoni 6 – Provided a heroic block to keep Inter ahead with the scores at 2-1 in the first-half, which at that point, was as good as a goal.

Dumfries 5.5 – Not quite as explosive a performance as the semi-final, when he netted a brace from wing-back, but did his job fairly well. Hit a very decent improvised volley with less than 10 minutes to go with the scores at 2-2. Missed the chance to win it at 87 minutes.

Barella 6 – A fairly typical Barella performance. Full of energy and always comfortable in carrying the ball forwards. Looked rather frustrated when coming off just before full-time. (Frattesi N/A)

Calhanoglu 5 – Was only on the pitch for just over half an hour before heading down the tunnel with injury. His replacement struggled to cope with the pressure of the occasion, particularly in the second half (Asllani 4.5)

Mkhitaryan 5 – Decent enough on the ball, but conceded the free-kick on the edge of the area when Leao was running at him, which led to Theo’s goal and the eventual comeback. Was involved in the move for Inter’s opening goal, though. (Zielinski 6)

Dimarco 6 – A decent, but not particularly stand-out performance from Inter’s flying wing-back.  (Carlos Augusto 6)

Taremi 7.5 – A goal and an assist for the Iranian against his former coach Conceicao. Provided a nice touch for Lautaro Martinez for the opener, and took his goal very well to make it 2-0 two minutes into the second half.

Lautaro M. 6.5 – Broke his goalscoring drought with a trademark finish within the area after receiving the ball from his strike partner just before half-time. Had quite a few chances, though and couldn’t put any of them away, which Inter needed him to do in the end.

Milan Ratings

Maignan 7.5 – Kept Milan in it with a number of decent saves, and just about clawed the ball off the line after Carlos Augusto’s effort to prevent an Inter third.

Emerson 6 – Caught out defensively for the opening goal when Inter hit the Rossoneri on the break. (Calabria N/A)

Tomori 6 – Both he and Thiaw were caught out for Inter’s second goal, when Stefan de Vrij’s long ball over the top split the centre-backs and fell nicely for Taremi.

Thiaw 6.5 – Slightly more composed than his centre-back partner at times, and was useful in both penalty areas.

Theo Hernandez 8 – The second half was Theo at his best. A very well taken free-kick and a big threat going forwards on Milan’s left flank. Seemed to light up even more when Leao came on.

Musah 6 – It wasn’t the worst performance ever, but Milan did step up when he went off and things changed around tactically, with the match-winning Tammy Abraham introduced at that point. (Abraham 7.5)

Fofana 5.5 – Not the Frenchman’s most comfortable performance in a Milan shirt, contrary to his usually solid and consistent displays.

Jimenez 5 – One who struggled in the first half. No comparison to his replacement Rafael Leao, who completely changed the game by winning the free-kick for Theo Hernandez’s goal and then led the Rossoneri attack for the remainder of the game. (Leao 8)

Reijnders 6 – A classy moment when he took a delicate touch to beat the Inter defence before skewing his shot wide in the first half. Having Leao back in the team will probably make the Dutchman look even better going forwards. (Loftus-Cheek 6)

Pulisic 7 – The USA international has been consistently very good for Milan throughout this season, and that did not stop in Riyadh. Another goal for his seasonal tally, as well.

Morata 6 – Not the most impressive performance from the experienced centre-forward, who didn’t look like scoring until the second-half substitutions were made.
