The Magpies welcome Mikel Arteta's side to St. James' Park, aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League after a five-game winless streak, and Tino Livramento, Dan Burn and Bruno Guimarães all return to the side in place of Emil Krafth, Lloyd Kelly and Sandro Tonali respectively.
Nick Pope, who kept a clean sheet in Wednesday's Carabao Cup victory against Chelsea, continues in-between the sticks behind a four man defence, with Fabian Schär partnering Burn in the heart of United's backline while Livramento and Lewis Hall occupy the defensive flanks.
Joe Willock, who permanently joined Newcastle from Arsenal in the summer of 2021, starts against his former club alongside Sean Longstaff and Guimarães, who captains the hosts this afternoon, in midfield.
Joelinton and Anthony Gordon, who scored the winning goal in last season's 1-0 home win against the Gunners, are likely to provide support for Alexander Isak, with the Swedish frontman targeting a third goal in as many competitive matches.
Howe has a number of attacking options to deploy from the bench if needed, including Harvey Barnes, Miguel Almirón and Will Osula, while defensive duo Krafth and Kelly, who both started against Chelsea on Wednesday night, revert to the bench.
Young pair Lewis Miley and Alex Murphy are also on the bench while Martin Dúbravka is the substitute goalkeeper.
