Football League World takes a look at the nine players who are set to miss out on the action as Derby County host Sunderland on Tuesday night

Derby County host Sunderland at Pride Park on Tuesday night, in a clash which places a side who sit just one point clear of the relegation zone up against a Black Cats outfit who are vying for promotion back to the Premier League.

When the Rams met the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light back in October, Regis Le Bris' high-flyers ran out as 2-0 winners courtesy of goals from Jobe Bellingham and Wilson Isidor, and will be hoping for more of the same following a disappointing 0-0 draw at Burnley on Friday night, which witnessed Clarets goalkeeper James Trafford deny Isidor from the penalty spot twice.

Ahead of a fixture which will have ramifications for both ends of the Championship table, Football League World takes a look at the nine players who are set to miss out on the action:

10 Ryan Nyambe

Rams full-back Ryan Nyambe, formerly of Blackburn Rovers, will be unavailable for his side's encounter with the Black Cats, after picking up a posterior cruciate ligament injury during a clash with Millwall in October.

It remains to be seen when the Namibia international is back on the pitch, but he was expected to be out for six months when first ruled out.

9 David Ozoh

The second of two Rams players guaranteed to miss out when his club lock horns with Le Bris' men on Tuesday night is midfielder David Ozoh, on loan from Crystal Palace.

He suffered a hamstring issue during a 1-0 win over Cardiff City on 14th September, and has endured a disappointing spell on the sidelines ever since.

8 Curtis Nelson

One player who won't be seen for the remainder of Derby's campaign is Curtis Nelson.

The centre-back's season has come to an abrupt end, with a knee ligament injury putting him on the sidelines for the foreseeable future, as confirmed by Paul Warne.

Meanwhile, Derby defender Nat Phillips encountered a groin problem during last week's FA Cup tie with Leyton Orient, and subsequently missed out on the action as Paul Warne's men lost to Watford on Saturday.

The man on loan from Premier League leaders Liverpool could be fit in time for the Black Cats clash though.

7 Jenson Seelt

Jenson Seelt is one of seven Black Cats players who will be unable to feature when Le Bris' men travel to Pride Park on Tuesday night, after suffering a severe knee injury last March.

The Dutchman is still not ready to return, and would likely get little game-time anyway ahead of the club's other options.

6 Niall Huggins

Former Wales youth international Nial Huggins is another member of Le Bris' squad who has not played for the club since last season, courtesy of a long-term knee problem.

Despite signing a new contract since then, the versatile full-back continues to be missing.

5 Alan Browne

Ex-Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne last played for the Black Cats during a 2-2 draw with Coventry City back in November, but since then, a fracture in his leg has kept the Republic of Ireland international on the sidelines.

Browne suffered little amount of injuries at Deepdale, so Sunderland must believe they've cursed the midfielder after his arrival on Wearside.

4 Ian Poveda

It would be fair to say that former Leeds United man Ian Poveda's move to Sunderland last summer has not been a successful one, as he has made just three appearances for Le Bris' side amid injury issues which will prevent him from facing the Rams.

Similarly to the aforementioned Browne, Romaine Mundle's last Black Cats appearance came during their draw with Coventry in November, while the wideman suffered a hamstring injury that afternoon.

The ex-Tottenham attacker signed for Sunderland last January for £2 million from Standard Liege in Belgium, and was filling Jack Clarke's boots fantastically this season until being struck down.

Winger Tommy Watson made an exciting Black Cats breakthrough earlier this campaign, when he scored his first senior goal for the club as part of a brace during a victory over Stoke City last month.

However, in the 26th minute of a 1-1 draw with Bristol City just days later, the youngster had to be substituted off due to suffering damage to both his knee and ankle.

1 Ahmed Abdullahi

Striker Ahmed Abdullahi is still yet to be handed his Championship debut, after signing for the North East outfit from Gent, amid a long-term injury issue.

Abdullahi received surgery following a groin problem, while Le Bris recently revealed that the 20-year-old would be plying his trade for the Black Cats' under-21 side as he makes his recovery.
