Arne Slot has admitted Liverpool-PSG was “the best game of football” he has ever been involved in, despite the Reds crashing out on penalties against Luis Enrique’s Parisiens. Speaking to Amazon Prime Video, the Dutchman added his side pulled off an “incredible performance” compared to the first leg. Slot believes Liverpool ran out of luck after last week, when the Reds were indebted to a supreme goalkeeping performance from Alisson.

“We played the perfect game, except for scoring a goal. It was similar to Paris last week, when they played the perfect game”, Slot added. The Dutchman felt that PSG were better in extra time than Liverpool, although he regretted his side could not get a draw, which would have qualified them for the next stage of the Champions League. “For now, everyone should be disappointed. I know these players – they’re resilient. It had everything you wanted from a game.”
